Not to spam your Substack, but I wanted to share a podcast I recently guested on. Rock and a Hard Place is a lit-noir journal publishing stories some label controversial. I love the work the editors have platformed, in part because some it’s mine. RHP has given three of my shorts a home, and was also the first outlet to publish me. And, yeah, you never forget your first.
So I was excited to meet most of their staff at Bouchercon earlier this year. We didn’t get a lot of time together—conferences are nuts—but they asked me to come on their podcast. We talked addiction and locking oneself in a car trunk and finding hilarity in hopelessness of human existence and also writing. You can hear our chat—and their interviews with other writers—on their Patreon feed. It’s a $1 to get past the paywall, but that helps keep their lights on. Besides, all a dollar’ll get you is an Arizona iced tea.
Which is admittedly pretty good. Decisions, decisions…
